Old Shops of Stornoway | Seann bhùthan

On 11 August 2011, a packed Stornoway library was entertained by Norrie MacGregor, Malcolm MacDonald and Sandy Matheson of Stornoway Historical Society who recounted the history and their own memories of several former shops of Stornoway.

The evening coincided with the launch of new exhibition panels in Stornoway Library's foyer created by the Tasglann in collaboration with the Historical Society.

Sandy, Norrie and Malcolm in full flow

The new exhibition panels feature archive photographs and histories of Hugh Matheson, bakers; Roderick Smith, chemist; Charles Morrison, chandlers; James Mackenzie's, general merchant.

An enjoyable night was had by all!
